Businesses Partner to Provide Over $13,000 of Socks and Support to Vermont's Homeless
WILLISTON, VT - Lenny's Shoe & Apparel, Darn Tough Vermont and Smartwool have teamed up once again to donate over $13,000 worth of socks and support to representatives from local shelters.
The donations are the result of a joint effort between the three businesses to help provide warm, Merino wool socks and much-needed support to Vermont's homeless population in preparation for the state's colder months.
“The annual Charity Sock Sale at Lenny's stores is an event we've come to look forward to participating in each year,” said Ric Cabot, President of Darn Tough Vermont. “Everyone deserves access to warm clothing, and this sale is an easy way to get a bunch of our neighbors into a pair of premium, Merino wool socks just in time for another Vermont winter.”
Over the weekend of September 20-23, 2012, Lenny's Shoe & Apparel held their second annual Charity Sock Sale. Darn Tough Vermont and Smartwool agreed to donate one pair of socks for each pair sold of their respective brands at Lenny's stores across Vermont during the sale. In addition to the sock donation, Lenny's graciously agreed to make a monetary donation for each pair sold. The organizations who received the donations this morning include the Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS) in Burlington, the Samaritan House in St. Albans, and the Good Samaritan Haven in Barre. Cabot adds, “Socks are what we do at Darn Tough, and if socks can serve to lend a hand to those in need, we are by all means privileged to help.”
