Boots 'n Beer
Who doesn’t occasionally daydream about their favorite beverage of choice while enduring a long day at the office? We’re all human, right?
Vermont has dozens of local breweries, each uniquely capturing an aspect of what it is to be part of the Vermont culture. One part of that culture those who aren’t from around here will discover about Vermonters if they spend any amount of time with us is that we’re a giving bunch with little exception. And when we have an opportunity to combine things we are passionate about with charity opportunities, magic happens.
While having a conversation about some favorite local breweries, Amanda (our marketing director) and one of our former store managers were hit with an idea. Why not combine our knowledge of boots with a great local brewery to raise money for a charity? He made contact with the folks at 14th Star Brewery, a veteran-owned craft brewery located in St. Albans and within 3 days, the first Boots ‘n Beer event was in motion.
During the three hour event, Lenny’s in St. Albans offered free beer tastings by 14th Star Brewing Company. The beer was paired with cheese tastings from Boston Post Dairy out of Enosburg. We worked with KEEN Utility, Carhartt, and Bogs to provide prizes for tasters. Raffle tickets were available for purchase and all proceeds were donated to the Samaritan House in St. Albans, a non-profit organization that provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, and collaborative support services to people within Franklin and Grand Isle Counties. At the end of the 3 hours, our customers raised $710 for the Samaritan House.
We had such a great reception with our first Boots N Beer event, Lenny’s in Williston opened the doors to beer lovers for a second event, this time teaming up with Goodwater Brewery. Through the purchase of raffle tickets, our customers raised $645 for the Greater New England Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. This organization looks to improve the quality of life for people affected by MS and raise funds for critical MS research.
Throughout the remainder of last year, many customers asked us when our next Boots ‘N Beer event was happening. Due to popular demand, this Friday in our Williston location, we are teaming up with 1st Republic Brewing Co and Homebrew Shop, Groennfell Meadery, and, a returning favorite, GoodWater Brewery. We have prizes from KEEN Utility, Timberland Pro, Hydroflask, Baggallini, and many more. Proceeds from the raffle tickets and t-shirts will be donated to Special Olympics Vermont.
So join us for tasty brews from 1st Republic Brewing Co, Groennfell Meadery, and GoodWater Brewery, enjoy an opportunity to win boots and clothing, get 20% off storewide during the three-hour event, and donate to a great cause!
Also, keep an eye out for additional Boots ‘n Beer events in March on our Facebook Events page!
